Ferryfield - Grant Award Application Success

In March 2023 the Parish Council applied for a grant through the FCC Communities Foundation, Community Action Fund to renew the remaining old tired and end of life play equipment in Ferryfield Aylesford.
The Council is absolutely delighted to have been successful in its application and has been awarded up to £58,974.74 towards eligible costs of this project.

The Council consulted with local primary school children and received many lovely letters from the children in Years 5 and 6 all expressing their thoughts on the two designs they got to view. It was crystal clear the children preferred the larger scheme, so the Council applied for a grant.

Ferryfield is the Council's most popular site and being able to finally complete this project will be amazing for the community particularly for the children who had a say in choosing which design they preferred.

The FCC Community Action Fund provides grants to not-for-profit-organisations for eligible amenity projects and applications are considered for project sites within a 10-mile radius of an FCC Environment Waste Facility, so for us the nearest is Allington.

In the coming weeks the Council will be ensuring the FCC Communities Foundation have all the information they need and will then be placing the order with its chosen contractor; Kompan.

I'm sure you will agree its amazing news the Parish Council has been awarded this grant and we look forward to finally seeing the play area revamp complete.

The Chairman stated 'the Council is incredibly grateful to the FCC Communities Foundation for making this project become a reality which will provide a substantial benefit to the children of the local community'

KCC's Public Rights of Way Area Manager has contacted us regarding the Tow Path at the rear of the Deacon Industrial Estate.
You may or may not be aware that there have been subsidence issues recently and they had placed an emergency closure on the path. They have said that things have progressed rapidly and the section of path has now subsided severely and it is now clear that the problem is the retaining wall that separates the path from the river is now on the verge of collapse. The repairs that are needed will be very time consuming and unfortunately the path will be closed for months.
If you have any queries or concerns please contact the Public Rights of Way Team at KCC. Please use the following link to find their contact details https://www.kent.gov.uk/about-the-council/contact-us/public-rights-of-way
